WAPCo’s new Managing Director, Abiodun Bodunrin, affectionately called “Abbey,” on Friday, August 22, 2025, met with Ghana’s Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, at the Ministry in Accra.
Abbey thanked the Minister for his leadership and support for WAPCo. He particularly highlighted the Minister’s pivotal role in coordinating engagements with key stakeholders, which ensured the seamless and safe execution of the offshore pipeline inspection project earlier this year. He also thanked the Minister for his intervention in ensuring that customers in Ghana adhered to the agreed payment plans, significantly contributing to WAPCo’s success.
Abbey expressed condolences to the Government and people of Ghana for the recent helicopter crash.
The Minister welcomed Abbey to Ghana and expressed hope for continued collaboration between the Ministry and WAPCo. He mentioned Ghana’s interest in accessing more gas from the east to meet growing demand and was optimistic that Abbey would work with stakeholders to ensure the expansion of the pipeline’s capacity.
Abbey said he was delighted because the Minister’s expressed desire for more gas aligned with WAPCo’s expansion goals. Abbey mentioned ongoing technical feasibility studies to maximise pipeline utilization, especially at Tema.
Abbey was accompanied by:
