WAPCo’s medical outreach for host communities in Lagos State, Nigeria
WAPCo has provided eye care services as part of this year’s Health Awareness Outreach to host communities in Lagos State.The 4-day outreach programme began in Ilogbo Eremi Community of Lagos State, with an awareness session on pipeline safety. A team of health care professionals provided community members with general cardiovascular screening, cholesterol and blood sugar testing and some were treated for minor ailments.The team then proceeded to provide eye examination and prescription glasses to adults and children who needed them. Patients who required specialized care were referred to appropriate nearby facilities.For many of the children and adults in these communities, this was their first ever eye screening and treatment.Ajido, Imeke and Tori Lovi are the other host communities that benefitted from the health outreach. Over a thousand people were attended to during the 4-day period.
