WAPCo Reinforces Zero Mindset at Safety and Compliance-Focused Vendor Forum

Accra, Ghana – July 2026 – WAPCo has reinforced its commitment to achieving zero fatalities, zero serious injuries, zero major incidents, and zero tolerance for bribery and corruption through its 2026 Vendor Forum, held in Accra on 2 July 2026.

The forum brought together current and prospective vendors and stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, enhance understanding of WAPCo’s business processes, and align partners with the Company’s expectations on safety, ethical conduct, and operational excellence.

Delivering the opening remarks, Managing Director Abbey Bodunrin emphasized that safety remains WAPCo’s highest priority and is the foundation upon which all operations are built.

“The most important number at WAPCo is zero,” he stated, referring to the Company’s commitment to zero tolerance to bribery and corruption, zero fatalities, zero serious injuries, and zero major incidents.

He underscored the shared responsibility of employees, contractors, and business partners in sustaining a safe working environment and ensuring everyone returns home safely every day.

The Company’s strong safety culture was further highlighted by Health, Environment and Safety (HES) Manager Oluwayemi Adejimi Ojo, who noted that WAPCo has achieved more than 12 years and 14 million work hours without a recordable injury or fatality. Given that contractors perform a significant proportion of work across WAPCo’s operations, participants were reminded that safety remains a shared responsibility and were encouraged to uphold the Company’s guiding principles.

The forum also showcased WAPCo’s commitment to operational excellence through robust procurement processes, effective contract management, and continuous improvement initiatives. Participants received practical guidance on vendor prequalification requirements, project execution expectations, payment processes, and the standards required to deliver quality outcomes across WAPCo’s operations.

A key focus of the event was integrity and compliance. Participants were reminded that actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest must be disclosed to safeguard transparency and maintain confidence in procurement decisions. WAPCo also provided guidance on its gifts and hospitality requirements and highlighted the independent KPMG Ethics Line as a confidential channel for reporting concerns about misconduct or policy violations.

The session reinforced one of WAPCo’s defining “zeros”; zero tolerance for bribery and corruption. Participants were reminded that ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability are non-negotiable requirements for all employees, contractors, suppliers, and business partners.

The Company also demonstrated its commitment to innovation and efficiency through the introduction of its upcoming Microsoft Dynamics 365. The digital solution is expected to enhance vendor interactions, improve transparency across procurement and payment processes, and strengthen overall operational effectiveness.

Closing the forum, General Manager, Operations, Abubakar Bello Gwadabe, thanked participants for their engagement and reaffirmed the importance of strong partnerships in achieving WAPCo’s objectives.
