The Economic Community for West African States’  (ECOWAS) Commissioner for Energy and Mines, Dr Morlaye Bangoura on Thursday March 26^th, 2015 paid a visit to WAPCo offices in Accra. The visit was to enable him appraise himself of the company’s operations and also gain first hand insight of challenges facing the company. Dr. Bangoura was accompanied by Mr. Dabire Bayaornibe, Director Energy at ECOWAS and Débo Barandao, Director General of the West African Gas Pipeline Authority.

The team had earlier visited WAPCo facilities in the four countries and Dr. Bangoura said the team was impressed with what they observed during the visits. He referred to the West African Gas Pipeline as a “jewel” and expressed the hope of the pipeline being extended to Cote d’Ivoire.

Mr. Walter Perez, WAPCo’s Managing Director, expressed the company’s appreciation to ECOWAS for the visit.
